NHL KAUTTA AIKOJEN STANLEY CUPIN LOPPUOTTELUT Vuosina 1918–22 NHL:n mestari kohtasi Pacific Coast Hockey Associationin mestarin. Vuosina 1923 ja 1924 pelattiin kolmen parhaan kesken sarja, kun myös Western Canada Hockey Leaguen mestari pelasi cupmestaruudesta. Vuonna 1925 NHL:n mestari kohtasi WCHL:n mestarin, koska PCHA lopetti toimintansa 1924. Kaudeksi 1925–26 WCHL muutti nimensä Western Hockey Leagueksi (WHL). Vuodesta 1927 alkaen cup ratkaistu NHL:n playoffsissa.
